Northwestern part of Panay
Island has long been neglected because of its distance from
the Regional Centers but it is endowed with rich natural
resources: coral reefs, deep fishing grounds, low-elevation
primary forests, minerals, tropical sceneries.
The Local Government Units (LGUs)
formed 3 alliances: NACADA (Aklan, 5 LGUs), LIPASECU (Antique,
4 LGUs), NPPBMC (Buruanga Peninsula, 5 LGUs) to address
sustainable management and protection of the natural resources
of the peninsula.
|
|
Objectives of the P3DM
exercises: Provide the LGU Alliances with tools to
strengthen their collective capacities for effective and
efficient management of their coastal and terrestrial
resources. Provide venue for greater community participation
on natural resource profiling, services delivery capacity
assessments and development planning and management.
