A rudimentary community-based
Geographic Information System (GIS) Once informants have completed
transposing and cross-checking information, other features can
be added to the model. These include administrative or
protected area boundaries, etc., obtained from official
sources.
For doing this a spatial relation
between base map and relief model is established by
super-imposing a geo-referenced grid on the top of the
model.
Boundaries at hand
Latitude and longitude
co-ordinates of the boundary corners are identified on the
source map and transposed on the relief model. Each corner is
then connected to the next using a colored yarn.
At the end of this exercise the boundary is visible to
everyone
Finishing Touches
The requisite of a 3-D Model
is that everyone should understand it.
A detailed
legend, including information on scale, a North-labeled arrow
and an acknowledgement plate are embedded into the model.
