Library

Many non-governmental or community-based organisations do an excellent job on the ground in practising Participatory GIS (PGIS). Unfortunately limited time is invested in documenting and sharing / publishing such valuable experiences. Having noted this lack of documentation in 1999, when I launched the first version of this website, I created a section called virtual library and started populating it with documents which I considered as relevant for the practice and for those engaging with it, activists, indigenous peoples, researchers, students to mention a few. Considering that the focus of this site is on “Participatory 3D Modelling” (P3DM), I made my best efforts in collecting and sharing or linking to all documents available dealing with the practice. A comprehensive bibliography of PGIS and Public Participation GIS (PPGIS) has been put together and is constantly updated by Mike McCall and is available on the PPGIS.net site.

The current library offers a collection a few hundred publications sorted by year of “appearance” or publication.
